Does your apartment need a facelift? After a while, sticking with the same decor can get boring.
It’s only natural for your interests to change. And when you transform as a person, your home should reflect that.
If you’ve been staring unhappily at your apartment decor, it’s time to switch things up!
There are many ways to create spaces that are pleasing to the eye.
Start by following these seven tips to upgrade the decor in your apartment today. You’ll no doubt be happy with the results!
1. Revive Your Pillows
If you’ve had the same pillows on your sofa for a long time, try swapping them out for new ones.
The new pillows can be in different colors and patterns. Try a new accent color or go with something bold and bright, such as yellow or turquoise.
A few patterns that would be fun are striped lines or a mountain silhouette. Take a look at your existing theme and see which type of prints would blend in well.
Also, if you don’t want to buy new pillow covers, there’s another option.
You can repurpose clothing and create your own covers! If there’s a tie-dye pattern you love from a T-shirt, see if there’s enough fabric to create a pillow.
If there isn’t, the tie-dye pattern could be on the front and a single color on the back.
2. Get Away From Neutrals
Neutrals are soft and subtle, but it doesn’t hurt to incorporate some color too!
Bringing in some color doesn’t mean you have to do a significant overhaul.
Find a few decorative elements to throw a pop of color in here and there.
An easy way to do that is to invest in a few statement pieces, such as a colorful table lamp. A colorful braided rug is another element that would brighten the place up!
Whatever type of elements you decide to put in your interiors, make it fun and fresh. Everything will come to life after selecting items that are bright and colorful!
3. Add Something With a Lot of Shine
You can up the luxe factor in your apartment by getting something with a lot of shine.
Examples of shiny decor are:
- A metallic vase
- A lacquered buffet
- Mirror cubes wall art
- Glimmer canvas wall art
- Stainless steel floor vase
- Wall spheres
Consider placing shiny elements in a dining room area or bedroom. They’ll most certainly bring a room to life!
Not to mention, your apartment will always be ready for any special occasion!
But you might want it dispersed throughout the rest of your apartment instead of having it in one room.
If that’s the case, shiny decor will look incredible throughout your home.
And, bringing in shiny elements will make your apartment look luxurious and inviting.
4. Paint One of Your Doors
To take on a fun project, consider painting one of your doors. If you undergo this project, paint it in an accent or the primary color in the room.
That way, it’ll blend in well with everything in the interior.
For example, if your bedroom comprises blue, gray, and coral, you could paint the door gray. And if you want it to be more of a focal point, go with a brighter shade like coral.
Keep in mind that you’ll have to paint it back to its original color before moving out. So don’t go too crazy in your apartment!
But painting a door in a fun color can add a lot of personality to your interior!
5. Layer a Few Rugs
You might be in love with an existing rug but would like to switch things up. To change something, consider getting a bigger rug to go underneath.
Each rug can be in a single color, or you can try two different patterned rugs.
Mixing patterns lets you add depth and interest to a room in a fun way. And that’s definitely the case with rugs as well!
The layered effect will especially look incredible in a well-trafficked room.
A living room is a perfect space to layer your rugs and create a focal point at the same time!
6. Move the Location of Your Office Space
Perhaps your office space has been in your bedroom, but you’d like to have it elsewhere.
If so, bring it to a different room, such as your living room.
Your kitchen and living room may share the same space. To make your office area private, set up your desk on a wall where there won’t be as much commotion.
If there’s room, you could create a wall using a four-panel room divider. That way, your office space would either be a part of the living room or kitchen.
It may not cut out all the noise, but it would give you some more privacy as you work.
This simple swap will make you feel like you’re in a brand new space, and who knows, it may help you be more productive too!
7. Install a Fun Shower Curtain
An easy way to make your bathroom more cheery is by installing a fun shower curtain.
Depending on the theme, you can find a floral or modern-themed curtain.
The sky’s the limit when it comes to selecting a unique shower curtain. Teal hexagons or watercolor vines are two examples of different looks you could try.
What if your bathroom has an ocean theme? With a nautical look, you could add a shower with the ocean, fish, boat, or whale.
Imagine how whimsical it would be to walk into your bathroom and see a giant whale on your shower curtain!
In Conclusion
Upgrading an apartment will no doubt transform your interiors. With the new upgrade and shiny decor, your mood will improve too!
You’ll love all the hard work you put into creating an apartment that makes you happy.
It’s crazy how little things such as switching up decor can make such a difference. But it does, and you’ll be glad that you took the time to enhance your apartment.
It’ll not only enhance your mood but the mood of others who enter as well!
