Bedrooms are multi-purpose rooms, where we sleep, study, and relax. They are places where we can express ourselves; spaces that we can design to our unique tastes and needs.
We all dream about having a big bedroom where, in the words of the movie Step Brothers, “There’s so much more room for activities!”. Thankfully, though, there’s no need to create a makeshift bunk bed in order to manufacture more living space in your bedroom.
If you have a small bedroom, then this blog post is for you. Here, we will talk about bedroom design and space-saving ideas for small bedrooms. Let’s go!
Beds With Storage
Beds are the largest item of furniture in our bedrooms. If your bedroom is on the smaller side, it makes sense to have a bed with added storage underneath.
Another great option is a Murphy bed. They are the ultimate space-saving convenience in any bedroom. Check out these Wilding wallbeds for some amazing options that will really increase the amount of available space in your bedroom.
Add a Loft Bed
Another bed idea is to add a loft bed, which leaves space below for a desk area. While there may be a lack of floor space in your bedroom, there’s likely a lot of space up high that isn’t being utilized. A loft bed with a desk underneath can change that.
Double-Purpose Furniture
There are certain items of furniture that you can double-up with. For example, a vanity table can also double as a nightstand. When you need to use it as a vanity table, simply pull out the stool and you’re all set, whether to put on makeup or do some writing.
Get Rid of Anything That Isn’t Essential
Every room could do with a spring clean, but it’s especially important to keep small bedrooms free of unnecessary clutter. Take a look around your room and get rid of anything that you don’t actually use on a regular basis. Anything else can be stored in a closet or chest of drawers in order to keep your room tidy and spacious.
Hang High Shelves
As we have noted above, while there may be a limit to the floor space in your bedroom, there won’t be a lack of space near the ceiling. It’s a great place to hang shelves (just not too high!) for items like books, photo frames, and other decorations.
Smart Space-Saving Tips for a Great Bedroom Design
Small bedrooms can have just as much, if not more, character with a proper bedroom design. With a good layout, an absence of clutter, and furniture that serves a double purpose, you can maximize the space that your bedroom has. With all of this extra bedroom space, what you do with it is totally up to you!
